Deacon was born a couple of weeks early. I had been going to see my doctor every week for the last two months of this pregnancy. She wanted to monitor me closely because of my preeclampsia history. I went to a regular check-up appointment on a Friday. Apparently, my preeclampsia tendencies were becoming mild, because my doctor asked me if we could set up a C-section over the weekend to deliver our baby boy. My response was, "Whaaat? Really? Wow. How fun. Whoa. Yeah, we may need a day to prep... Sunday it is."
Mae and I left the appointment and I called Tod with a huge grin on my face. We would be meeting our baby boy soon, who still did not have a name. We're procrastinators in this area. Immediately my mind was racing and I was mentally going through a list of things that needed to be done before baby boy's entrance. As much as I enjoy planning, I just wanted Sunday morning to come quick.
Sunday came (very slowly) and we headed to the hospital for our 5:30 a.m. check in and surgery prep. Deacon Yuma was born at 7:34 a.m, weighing in at 7.5 lbs. He came out a healthy and happy baby.
Deacon has been a joy to raise. It's so funny to see how different he is than Mae too. He is a pretty mellow baby, but don't let that deceive you. He's definitely got a loud voice and a good set of lungs; he will let you know if he's hungry or tired. He's at the cooing and chatting stage, so that is always fun to listen to. I can't even imagine what he will be like when he starts to crawl, walk and talk. We are looking forward to that!
